This is one heat wave you don’t want to catch. Last week Home Depot agreed to recall approximately 107,000 Soleil portable fan heaters with the model number LH-707 due to fire hazard.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), Home Depot has received 464 reports of fans melting, though no injuries or property damage have been reported. While complaints were only made about fans melting, they can also deform and catch fire during use, which poses a fire hazard.
The model number is located on a sticker on the bottom of the fan. The recalled fan is made of white plastic and are 1500 watts with a thermostat control on the bottom left front and a power control on the bottom right front. It measures about 8 inches in diameter and 8.5 inches tall with Soleil printed on the center of the fan.
